We recently had the pleasure of hosting The Maltsters’ Association of Great Britain (MAGB) here at French & Jupps maltings in Hertfordshire.

A Tour of the Facilities

The visit provided a valuable opportunity for the secretariat to explore the intricacies of our unique hand crafted malting process and discuss key industry topics whilst obtaining insights into the production of our malt varieties, including crystal maltpatent malt, malt grain, and malted barley.

Upon arrival, we conducted a tour of the maltings, showcasing our process of transforming barley into malt. From lab testing of barley to steeping, roasting, kilning, and packaging, we demonstrated each step, highlighting the journey of our malts for our brewing and distilling customers.

Looking Ahead to The AGM

Following the tour, the MAGB convened for a meeting chaired by Charles Tozer of Boortmalt providing an opportunity for the secretariat to discuss industry trends, challenges, and opportunities ahead of the upcoming AGM on November 5th.

We look forward to reconnecting with all association members from maltsters including Bairds Malt, Boortmalt, Crisp Malt, Muntons, Simpsons Malt, Soufflet Malt, Thomas Fawcett and Sons and Warminster Maltings in November at the MAGB AGM and Annual Luncheon Event.

We wish to thank the MAGB for their visit and the support the association provides to the UK malting industry and the production of malt, malt grain, and malted barley.
