Calling all London Brewers Alliance LBA members! Step inside the historic walls of Great Britain’s oldest maltster, French & Jupps, on Friday, February 21st, 2025!

Learn about our rich 336-year heritage, beginning in West Sussex and Kew Bridge, London, before settling in Hertfordshire, where we have been located for the last 121 years, sourcing barley from local farms within 30 miles of our Stanstead Abbotts site.

Attendees will enjoy a light lunch with coffee and sandwiches upon arrival before exploring the facility, taking a closer look at the loading and unloading process, steeping, germination, and roasting process across our 14 handcrafted Roasted Crystal Malts and Roasted Patent malts with a relaxed Q&A format throughout.

The tour will conclude with a malt spirit tasting (vodka-based) to explore the flavour profiles of our craft malt varieties. Each attendee will receiving a copy of our French & Jupps brewers’ malt collection booklet.

Friday, February 21st, 2025 Schedule:

  • 12:00 PM: Arrival, with a light lunch provided by French & Jupps with introductions.
  • 12:30 PM – 2:00 PM: Maltings tour with Q&A throughout.
  • 2:00 PM – 2:30 PM: Malt spirit tasting with a brewer’s guide to French & Jupps malts booklet.

Location

The tour and tasting will have concluded no later than 2:30pm, where attendees will return to the station, heading back towards London for beers at Hackney Church Brewery. From here attendees can make their way home at their own leisure.

Bookings are open exclusively to brewers from London Brewers Alliance from Wed 8th January, with very limited capacity – so book quickly if you don’t want to miss out.
