Assured UK Malt (AUKM) is a program run by The Maltsters’ Association of Great Britain (MAGB) which sets standards for malting codes of practice. The program’s certification mark provides brewers and distillers with assurance about the quality and traceability of malt. The AUKM program is independently audited by Kiwa Agri Foods, which is accredited by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS).
The AUKM program aims to demonstrate to customers and other interested parties that malt producers are following best practices and effectively controlling food safety and quality hazards. The program provides assurance about food safety, product legality, operational practices, and product quality. It also verifies traceability throughout the malting process and demonstrates that the grain supply comes from an assured source.

The Federation of Synagogues certify over 5,000 products for some of the world’s largest food manufacturers in over 27 countries. Their KF Kosher logo is instantly recognisable and is trusted by Orthodox Jewish communities across the world with their certification process is easy and straightforward and we provide guidance at every stage.
• Each ingredient, food additive, and processing aid used in its production must be Kosher.
• The production process must be suitable for Kosher requirements and approved by a Kosher auditor.
• The production lines and equipment must not be used to manufacture non-Kosher products.

The Maltsters’ Association of Great Britain (MAGB), founded in 1827, has been a stalwart presence in the UK malting industry for nearly two centuries. Reflecting the industry’s evolution. The eleven members including French & Jupps, Muntons Malt, Crisp Malt, Simpsons and more collectively represent over 98% of the UK malting sector.
The MAGB operates under the guidance of an elected Chairman and a structured framework designed to effectively address the industry’s needs.

FEMAS, or the Feed Materials Assurance Scheme, is a voluntary program which certifies animal feed ingredients, including barley, is ensured safe and quality standards are met. The Agricultural Industries Confederation (AIC) developed the scheme to protect human and animal health by ensuring safe practices throughout the feed chain. FEMAS is based on HACCP principles, which were originally developed by NASA.
The FEMAS standard covers all feed ingredients used in animal feed production, including:
• Micro-ingredients like vitamins, flavours, and enzymes
• Primary products of a production system
• Co-products
FEMAS verifies that our industry practice meets its obligations under relevant feed safety legislation and codes of practice. FEMAS has mutual recognition for feed ingredient assurance with GMP+, Ovocom FCA, QS schemes, EFISC-GTP, and FAMI-QS.

The Soil Association is the UK’s leading organic certifier, established in 1946 and offers a huge range of organic and sustainable certification schemes across food, farming, forestry, beauty, wellbeing, fashion, textiles and catering.
Licensees in Great Britain are certified to regulations 834/2007 and 889/2008. The EU Organic Regulation (EC) 2018/848 applies to all licensees in Northern Ireland.

With a membership of over 5,400 breweries and 30,000 home brewers, the Association plays a crucial role in advocating for the industry and fostering a vibrant community of beer lovers, brewers and malt suppliers.

The British Federation of Brewing and Cider Industry (BFBi) is a trade association that represents the entire value chain of the brewing and cider industry, from seed merchants to machinery manufacturers. The BFBi was formed in 1907 and has a strong membership within the UK brewing industry.
BFBi are the only international trade association representing the entire value chain supplying the food & drink industry worldwide.
The BFBi also works with other organisations, including the British Beer & Pub Association, the Institute of Brewing & Distilling, SIBA, the government, and international organisations.

Pellicle is a free, reader-supported online magazine and podcast based in the UK that focuses on drinks and related topics. The magazine was founded in 2019 by Matthew Curtis, Editor-in-Chief, and co-founder Jonny Hamilton, and its goal is to capture the joy of drinks cultures. Pellicle’s main focus is on beer, wine, and cider, but it also covers pubs, food, and travel. The magazine’s features are celebratory, philosophical, and critical.
Pellicle has published award-winning stories about the agricultural nature of beer, including the supply chain, UK hop farmers, and craft maltsters. The magazine also includes a podcast which features guests including Paul King, Managing Director, French & Jupps, that include open discussions about topics like malt, malt suppliers, brewing and sustainability in beer.

The Craft Maltsters Guild was founded in 2013 by eight craft malthouses and supports and promotes the craft malting tradition in North America.
The Craft Maltsters Guild emphasises quality and craftsmanship as a requirement for success, believing that maltsters have the ability to influence positive changes and improvements in the malting industry through knowledge and communication.
The guild’s mission is to:
• Maintain the highest safety and quality standards for craft maltsters
• Offer services and resources to its members
• Promote and sustain the craft malting tradition in North America
The guild also offers scholarships to help people from underrepresented backgrounds access education and opportunities in the craft malt industry.
